India accused Pakistan of breaching the ceasefire shortly after both sides agreed to halt military actions across land, air, and sea from late Saturday. While the LoC remains calm, western border states are on alert. PM Modi is reviewing the situation with top security officials. The ceasefire followed Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
Air Marshal AK Bharti stated that India’s operation targets terrorists, not nations, and called it “a pity” that Pakistan chose to intervene. As part of Operation Sindoor, India struck nine terror camps across the border.
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai stated that the nature of terrorist activities has significantly changed in recent years, with a disturbing shift towards targeting innocent civilians. Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, he remarked, “The pot of sin had overflowed by then.”
Air Marshal AK Bharti said India’s battle-proven systems have stood the test of time and performed effectively in recent operations. He highlighted the stellar performance of the indigenous Akash air defence system, crediting its success to a decade of strong policy and budgetary support from the government.
Air Marshal AK Bharti confirmed that all of India’s air defence systems are fully operational and ready for future missions if required. He added that all military bases and equipment are on high alert, and India retains the capability to strike at will if necessary.
